Dzaino was founded by Hanna Sin Gebauer and Julia Hermesmeyer in 2015. (Update: In 2021 the brand closed it's onlineshop for an indefinite period to be able to focus on other projects.)
Dzaino is a Berlin based label for bags and accessories with upcycling concept. All Dzaino products are unique handmade items, produced in Berlin and made out of textile waste.

Dzaino items are truly local low waste products. Using the Upcycling patchwork technique, all items are one-of-a-kinds.
"We buy our denim from a cooperation with Berliner Stadtmission, a charitable organisation serving people in need. Part of the preparation and manufacturing takes place at Delphinwerkstätten and faktura, two Berlin based workshops for people with disabilities. The other part takes place in our own studio in Berlin Mitte. We have a shop and showroom with office in this studio and a workshop studio in the back."
First product designed was the Yogamatbag. The classic Weekender and the Gymbag followed only a few months ago. Bestseller and initial product is the alltime loved Crossbag. Discover all Dzaino products here.
Dzaino’s design aesthetic focuses on a minimalistic use of form. The designers Hanna and Julia have always been fascinated by the idea of redesigning existing material. They found their unique design approach by combining traditional patchwork techniques with used denim fabric.
Rearranging the material to a clean look is at the core of the design process.
"We update craft techniques to create handmade, resource-friendly one of a kind pieces with a contemporary feel."
